Getting to know us…
Sales & Events Planner
Where you live: I live in leafy Banstead, a little bit outside of Central London so I’m a daily Southern commuter!
Who you live with: I live with my family.
How long you have been at BMA House: I started last November so almost a year. I love it here!
My alarm goes off at: 6am, kettle on, caffeine is an essential for me. I have quite a long commute so I always have my Kindle on me for the train ride, next on my list to read is ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time’ by Mark Haddon – I would love to see the play in the National Theatre when I’ve finished it!
At BMA House: I’m a Sales and Events Planner, so this means I works on events from the initial enquiry right through to the event! It’s great getting to interact with so many departments on-site including our caterers, our AV team and the team at reception!
I got the job: After realising I wanted to get into events and enrolling onto an Events Management Diploma. Shortly after completion I became a Venue Sales Executive at the venue Old Billingsgate. I spent two busy years there leaning about the industry and now I’ve joined BMA House to help me gain more experience in events
My typical day: As I’m still new to the team I’m training alongside everyone in the team and learning more about each person’s role within the office. I also get to meet with new clients every day and see the different events we have in the venue!
My most memorable work moment: At my last venue I was involved in a charity gala dinner for one of my clients, it was a fantastic night raising money for Breast Cancer. The surprise act of the night was an incredible performance from Dame Shirley Bassey accompanied by a 26 piece orchestra, I had goosebumps the whole time!
The worst part of my job: Not having enough hours in the day but luckily it keeps me busy and every day is rewarding!
The best part of my job: I love that each day is so different, it helps keep me on my toes!
What your desk looks like: General it’s quite tidy….. I like to think so anyway!
Top tip: I think making lists is great – you can keep track of all the thing you need to do and also it feels great to tick them all of afterwards!
Best meal ever eaten: I’m on a personal mission to eat as many burgers across London as possible, one of my top favourites was the Juicy Lucy from Brewdog with a pint of Camden Hells on the side.
After work: I either like to relax in-front of the TV and binge on all of the latest Netflix shows or head out with friends for a catch up over dinner and drinks! I love going to gigs so I’m always checking what’s going on and trying to get tickets.
Bloomsbury top tip: I’m still quite new to working in the area so I’m discovering new places all of the time, I have to say my current favourite is sitting in Tavistock Square Garden over the road from BMA and watching the world go by!
